A
pin-up is an image of an attractive and more often than not voluptuous
female of undetermined age, though youngish. Her image is worthy
of hanging on a wall, pinning up, displaying.
The said female is usually slightly provocatively dressed and often
partially exposed. She can be active or at rest, in public or caught
in a quiet moment on her own, but she is always the important subject.
The background is usually vague or almost nonexisting.
Pin-ups
are either a photograph or an artwork that represent or at least
aim to represent an artist or a photographers vision of the idealised
female form. Our admiration for this vision makes it deserving of
exhibiting or pinning up. Or in this case, making webpages about.
Candid photographs can never aspire to be a pin-up and pornography
ceases to be pin-ups when it looses its innocence.
